How do I make a video smaller so I can send it?
Video Compress: MP4 Shrinker shrinks a video on your iPhone so it fits an email or a message. Pick the clip, choose a quality, and it re-encodes on the phone, then shows old and new file size side by side. The video is never uploaded.
How it works

Choose a video from Photos or from Files. On the free tier that is one clip at a time; the paid unlock takes up to ten in a batch. The original is never modified.
- Choose how hard to squeeze
Balanced is the free preset and targets roughly a third of the original size, which is usually invisible on a phone screen. The heavier preset aims nearer a sixth and starts showing on fast motion.
- Let it run
The re-encode happens on the phone with a progress bar and a live size estimate. Nothing is uploaded, so a long clip is limited by your battery and processor rather than your connection.
- Save it or send it
The results screen shows old size against new. From there, Save to Photos puts it back in your camera roll, Save to Files stores it, and Share opens the normal iOS sheet for Messages, Mail or anything else.

Common questions
Why is my video too big to send in the first place?
Because of what the camera recorded, not the length. Your iPhone's own Camera settings screen lists 4K at 60 fps as roughly 440 MB per minute, and 1080p at 30 fps as roughly 65 MB per minute. A two-minute 4K clip is close to a gigabyte before you have done anything to it. Mail attachments commonly cap around 25 MB, so it fails immediately.
Can I do this without installing anything?
Often, yes. Attaching a video in Mail on iPhone offers Small, Medium, Large and Actual Size at send time, and Small is usually enough for an email. iMessage compresses video on its own before it sends. If the recipient needs the original quality, put the file in iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox and send the share link instead, which sidesteps attachment limits entirely rather than trading away picture quality.
Does compressing a video make it look worse?
Yes, to some degree, because it is a fresh lossy encode rather than a repackage. How visible that is depends on which preset you pick. The balanced preset targets roughly a third of the original size and is usually hard to fault on a phone screen. The heaviest setting aims nearer a sixth and starts showing its work on fast motion and flat gradients.
Is Video Compress free?
One compression is free, at the balanced preset, original resolution, MP4 out, one video at a time. Files saved by a free user carry the suffix `_compressed_via_VideoCompressor` in the filename; the picture itself is not watermarked. Paying removes the cap and adds the other presets, 1080p, 720p and 480p targets, MOV output and up to ten clips at once.
