Stud Finder Pro — Support

Stud Finder Pro turns your iPhone into a magnetometer-based wall scanner. The most common questions are answered below. If something is not covered, email hello@cloudmotionlab.com.
Getting accurate readings
My phone is not detecting anything.
First, take your phone case off — magnetic accessories and metal-rich cases skew the magnetometer. Hold the top edge of your phone (where the magnetometer sits) flat against the wall. Slide slowly. Calibrate first by holding still for two seconds in an open area away from large metal objects.
Why does it not find wooden studs?
Stud Finder Pro detects metal, not wood. It locates the nails or screws that fasten drywall to the wood studs behind it. When you find a strong signal peak, that is a screw — and the stud sits centered around it.
It detects metal where I do not expect it.
Common false positives: rebar in concrete walls, electrical conduit, metal HVAC ducts, magnetic strips on doors, and metal corner-bead behind drywall corners. Studs are usually 16 inches apart on center in modern US construction. If your peak signals do not line up at that spacing, you may be picking up other hardware.
Why is the signal jumpy?
Phones, watches, and external batteries near the iPhone create noise. Set them aside. Recalibrate. Slide more slowly.
Subscription and lifetime purchase
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Stud Finder Pro and tap Cancel.
I bought the Lifetime — how do I restore it on a new device?
Sign in to the same Apple ID you used to purchase. Open Stud Finder Pro, go to Settings inside the app, and tap Restore Purchases.
I want a refund.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not Cloud Motion Lab. Visit
reportaproblem.apple.com and select the Stud Finder Pro purchase.
My free trial just started — when am I billed?
If you started the 3-day trial on the weekly plan, you can cancel any time before the trial ends to avoid being charged. The trial automatically converts to weekly billing on day 3 unless canceled.
Privacy and data
Does the app collect my data?
No personal data. Magnetometer readings stay on your device. The app uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous, privacy-preserving usage analytics — no personal identifiers, no advertising trackers. Read the full
Privacy Policy.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Stud Finder Pro does not need an internet connection to scan. The only network calls are App Store receipt validation and anonymous analytics.
Compatibility
Which iPhones are supported?
iPhone X and newer running iOS 17 or later. Older iPhones lack the modern magnetometer calibration the app relies on.
Does it work on iPad?
Stud Finder Pro is built for iPhone only. iPads do not include a magnetometer in most models, and the form factor is unsuited for sliding across walls.
